New fire demo

It's been a while, but now I've got a another demo up. Enjoy!

I've been a little dry on ideas lately, so I'm open for suggestions. If you got any great ideas, or any particular effects you'd like to see, please write a comment.

Well, I wish I could run it, but it seems that the majority of the things on this site will not run even on a GF4ti4600 ... and as a student I can't afford to buy a newer card just yet :'(

However... far be it from me to go demanding more compatability, so I will instead suggest this for your next effect.

A realistic dynamic sky. (You know what I mean, skydome for the colour of the sky, but it can be changed relative to the position of the sun to allow for red haze at dawn/dusk and black sky at night. A sky-plane that holds a render target texture that can be affected with different levels of perlin noise for cloud generation, and tracing through imaginary voxels on the 2d texture so that you can shade the clouds appropriately etc etc).

I've seen it done before, but your graphic effects are the most impressive I've ever seen yet, so I'd love to see what results you could get!

(Also, if you could do it in Direct3D that'd be an awesome learning tool!)

Just an idea... thanks if you do

*goes to earn some money to buy a better graphics card to view your demo's with*

Just add heat haze effect and I'll go get my sausages

I'd like to see what you come up with for realtime soft shadows

I'd like to see your real-time soft shadow demo, too.

I'd love to see you do something like an outdoor scene that shows off some nice graphical effects that you have shown off in your pervious demos. You could even incorporate the sky that Gavin was talking about. And of course have some grass (tall and short) that waves in the "wind" along with trees that do the same. Maybe even have a cabin that you can enter. I'd really just like to see you begin to tackle more complex scenes. Don't get me wrong, you have done some pretty complex effects and what not, and I love everything you have done so far, I learn a lot from your demos. But, it would be nice to see scenes that are complex as in multiple things are going on (collision detection, multiple areas/effects, culling, etc, etc). Use your imaginagtion. It would just be cool to see things along those lines. And do it in OpenGL. Nah just kidding you can do it in either one, but I myself prefer OpenGL. Anyways, kudos to your skills.

Hmmmm....
The OpenGL Shading Language definitely ROCKS !

Thanks a lot for keeping up coding nice OpenGL demos, I'm getting even more motivated for my own projects.

Nice work !

suggestion: making an spherical harmonics lighting demo (that renders real world geometriy and not only objects)

Very briefly:
Deferred Shading
Soft shadows (not very interested but...)
Shadow Volume Reconstruction
Advanced portal rendering (like mirrors
or teleports realized trough portals)
