I like my 19" LCD, doesn't have a very quick refresh (25ms), but it's BIG.

Which pretty shows what the dominating API is in real world applications

4:1 compression is typical ATI marketing blabla actually is 2:1 as the factor 2 comes already by just using 2 components instead of 4 (which is normal for Normal maps). And a 2:1 compression ratio is pretty badass lame call me bullshitting. But in image compression this is close to nothing.

Well, the files as such are of course API independent. I didn't do the OpenGL part simply because there is no extension for it in the current drivers.

Nice. The same for OpenGL would be even nicer ;-)

It's just a 17" TFT monitor that does 1028x1024, so it's a step down from the 22" CRT I had back home in Sweden, though a 17" TFT is comparable to a 19" CRT. I had a hard time to decide between this one or a more than twice as expensive 20" TFT that could do 1600x1200. Since I had no experience with TFTs and didn't know if it would be good for gaming (which I can say now though that it is) and all that I wasn't quite prepared to spend too much money on something I'd maybe have to replace at some point. So I thought it was best to buy the cheaper one, and in case I grow out of this one I can buy a larger one (which hopefully is cheaper by then) and use this one as a secondary monitor in a dual setup.

As for the soundcard, I don't have any soundcard yet. I'm using the integrated sound on the mobo. It's good enough for me right now.
